Parenting/Kids

Kids have struggles, just like adults.

Being a parent is the hardest, most rewarding job in the world.*

Part of the challenge is learning how to deal with your kid’s struggles, many of which can affect their mental health.

Lack of academic achievement in school, possibly as a result of developmental issues, can be stressful for the child and parents.

Bullying, lack of friends, and other types of peer pressure can impact a child’s self-esteem and self-confidence.

Kids need coping skills, too.

When kids get stressed, they behaviorally act out as a way of learning to cope, stressing parents.

Children are not short adults and quite often need parents to help them understand and express their feelings verbally.

Therapists help parents validate their children’s feelings using techniques like “I” statements or process comments: “I can tell that you are very sad/angry/upset.”

Many parents feel totally powerless with their child’s mental health and need help understanding how to address those issues. This is where counseling can help.

Counseling helps both parent and child.

It is normal to have a child in counseling. In fact, it shows how much you care about helping your child achieve their full potential.
