About Monique West

Regardless of the issue, transformation is possible.

Women face their own issues that prevent them from focusing on their own self-care. They may struggle with giving birth, focus on family and issues that arise, or just need to find resolution to problems both past and present.

Panic, anxiety, and the triggers that cause both can make life confusing and difficult.

Adults with ADD and ADHD live a helter-skelter life, creating disorganization, feeling overwhelmed, and generally out of sorts.

The work that I do with clients is deeply rooted in the philosophy that all people can transform their lives with self-determination and a compassionate and knowledgeable approach.

I use a practical and down-to-earth manner in my approach to therapy.

Clients have given me feedback in the past that I have a knack for combining compassionate, non-judgmental therapy along with knowledgeable and proven techniques to better enhance their treatment goals and improve their overall quality of life.

My areas of specialty include Couple’s Therapy, Women’s Issues, Anxiety/Panic, and Adult ADD/ADHD.

Resolving women’s issues requires exploration and determination.

Some of the women with whom I work are experiencing postpartum depression, anxiety, and general adjustment issues after giving birth.

Others have a hard time balancing their own self-care along with their family obligations.

Some are struggling to find themselves again after children, divorce, break-up, and becoming empty nesters.

Many are women who are feeling generally emotionally unsatisfied, overwhelmed, and without an emotional anchor.

My approach is to create a safe space for women where they can self-explore their deepest desires and unresolved issues to help them create a healthier blueprint for the next chapter in their lives. Women with relationship conflicts are helped to navigate more effective ways to communicate and get their needs met in relationships with their partner, children, and/or relatives.

Anxiety and panic can be tricky and confusing.

A lot of my clients report not knowing what triggers their anxiety/panic. Clients often feel unworthy, fragile, broken, and at a perpetual los for how to solve their problems. These are the clients with whom I work well.

Clients who have tried to pick up the pieces but cannot seem to get out of their own way are clients that are best served by my style of therapy. Through evidence-based techniques, they are helped to uncover their own triggers for panic and anxiety. Eventually they will be able to equip themselves with the tools to live a more mindful life.

They will also learn skills to reduce/eliminate overwhelming anxiety, persistent negative self-talk, and feelings of being unworthy.

Therapy provides methods for dealing with ADD/ADHD.

Adults with ADD/ADHD often feel impatient, overwhelmed, disorganized, impulsive, scattered, and prone to chronic procrastination.

Over time ADD/ADHD affects your self-esteem, self-worth, and ability to read social cues and build meaningful friendships/relationships. People with untreated ADD/ADHD are likely to have some elements of depressive cycles.

Using a tailored approach, my clients learn their own ‘brand’ of ADHD/ADD. Each person with ADD/ADHD looks or manifests differently from the next. As your therapist, I help you to begin to recognize your own triggers and create effective self-management tools.

Clients learn how learn to get unstuck, regulate moods, create deeper relationships, stop procrastination tendencies, and follow through on the goals that you have for your life!

Building Connection, Trust and FUN through Couples therapy

I use a combination of Gottman style therapy approaches, Emotional Focused Therapy principles and Prepare/Enrich couples compatibility assessments. I use a down to earth approach along with proven techniques to create a warm and welcoming environment for couples to openly discuss their fears, grievances and hopes.

I specialize in teaching practical skills for better communication and conflict resolution for couples experiencing Infidelity and Broken Trust, Poor Communication Patterns, unresolved repetitive Conflicts, Patterns of Emotional Disconnection in Relationship and Difficulty with intimacy due to partners’ past trauma history.

Couples will learn how to re-establish meaning in their relationship, communicate in clean and healthy ways and deepen their emotional intimacy.

A Little About Me…

I enjoy things that make me feel connected to nature – I love walking in nature and taking time to take in the smells, sights and sounds. I instantly feel a sense of relaxation and peace when I walk the beach at night looking up at the stars and taking in the smell of the salt water.

My favorite part of traveling is indulging in different cultures, trying new foods, and expanding the way I view the world!
