Katherine Bothos, PsyD
About My Approach (Style) to Therapy…
I believe in the resiliency of the human spirit and God’s grace, addressing my clients’ needs in a compassionate manner. I strive to create a safe, comfortable, and nurturing environment that fosters personal growth. My therapeutic approach is insight and growth-oriented, emphasizing a collaborative relationship where clients are encouraged to take an active role in their treatment. I consider myself an eclectic psychotherapist, primarily client-centered, and utilize a psychodynamic viewpoint in case conceptualization.
About My Background and Training…
I graduated with a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D) degree from Alliant International University in Fresno, CA, in 2001. My training includes a pre-doctoral internship at Hutchings Psychiatric Center and Madison County Mental Health in Syracuse, NY, in 2000, as well as a two-year postdoctoral internship at Yale School of Medicine from 2001 to 2003, where I specialized in treating co-occurring disorders. Additionally, I hold a Master of Arts degree in Community Clinical Psychology from the University of New Haven. My clinical experience involves treating emotional disorders through individual and couples’ psychotherapy, and I have also provided clinical supervision, consultation, and crisis intervention.
About My Work (Ideal Clients)…
I have over 20 years of experience in private practice, working primarily with adults who face a range of presenting problems, including depression, stress, anxiety, psychiatric symptom management, trauma, domestic violence, assertiveness training, substance abuse, conflict resolution skills, mood disorders, life transitions, and anger management. A significant portion of my clientele has been diagnosed with personality disorders, and I specialize in working with women who have endured trauma. My extensive experience largely involves supporting the chronically mentally ill.
About Me (Personal Interests)…
I am deeply committed to the therapeutic process and take great joy in witnessing personal transformations. I hold a strong belief in the power of resilience and grace, which informs both my professional and personal outlook. Outside of work, I value opportunities for continuous learning and personal growth, and I find fulfillment in connecting with others and engaging in meaningful conversations about life’s challenges and triumphs.
