About Debra Morra, LCSW
About my approach (style) to therapy…
Using an eclectic approach tailored to your needs and strengths, I can help you to develop a non-judgemental curiosity about feelings, beliefs and issues that stand in the way of achieving your goals. Delving deeper into what makes you ‘tick’ empowers you to shift from a reactive stance to pro-active one, giving you more freedom, more choice, and ultimately a life in which you feel more relaxed, confident, and true to yourself. Working with me, you’ll be able to make connections between your past history and current patterns that no longer work for you, resulting in a better understanding and appreciation of yourself, and increased self-esteem.
If you want to live more authentically and reclaim the joy in your life, give me a call!
About my background and training…
I am an LCSW, licensed in NY and CT. I have 24 years of success in helping therapy clients to reach their goals, with significant training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma treatment (EMDR, Exposure Therapy), Mindfulness, Grief/Loss/Bereavement, Healthy Relationships, spiritual/existential issues, and Religious Trauma
About my work (ideal clients)…
My ideal clients are adults who feel that something is ‘missing’ from their lives. Maybe things are okay, but you feel unfulfilled, like a passenger in your own life, or are lacking a sense of meaning and purpose. Perhaps you are going through transitions in your personal life, relationships or career, and are feeling disconnected from yourself or others. Maybe you were raised in a dysfunctional family or are in a relationship with a narcissist, struggle with self-doubt, people-pleasing tendencies or recurring self-defeating patterns of behavior. Perhaps you are aware that something about your life isn’t working for you, but you don’t know what it is or where to turn. Or maybe you’re tired of feeling depressed or anxious and are ready to take action. Maybe you identify as LGBTQIA and are exploring what that means for you in navigating life. Or you’re grieving losses. Perhaps you are grappling with spiritual or existential issues or trauma. Or you just want to live a more authentic life and are ready to be true to yourself.
If this is you, and you’re ready to dig deep to understand and appreciate yourself, together we can create REAL, lasting change that results in more fulfilling connection with yourself and others, and more successful choices that help you achieve your goals and dreams
