Dawn Shahar Amram, LMSW

About my approach (style) to therapy…

I am dedicated to providing kind, compassionate, and trauma-informed care. My approach is participant-focused, ensuring that clients feel understood, heard, and actively involved in their treatment. I believe in the innate strength and resilience of each individual and tailor my support to address their unique struggles and needs. By fostering a therapeutic alliance built on empathy and empowerment, I guide clients through a journey of healing and self-discovery. Together, we work on rebuilding trust, managing emotions, and overcoming obstacles, helping clients regain control over their lives and find meaning in their experiences.

About my background and training…

I hold a master’s degree in advanced clinical social work from Columbia University. My professional experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults at the Yale Child Study Center. I have developed expertise in trauma-informed individual psychotherapy, clinical assessment, mental health services, relationship counseling, and family therapy. My background equips me with the skills to offer comprehensive care in outpatient psychiatric clinics and through telehealth services.

About my work (ideal clients)…

I work with children, adolescents, and adults, providing trauma-informed individual psychotherapy and mental health services. My ideal clients are those seeking support in navigating trauma, regulating emotions, and disengaging from harmful behaviors. I also work with individuals and families who are looking to rebuild trust, develop coping skills, and find empowerment and meaning in their lives. My services are designed to meet clients where they are and support them in their journey towards healing and personal growth.

About me (personal interests)…

Outside of my professional work, I am deeply interested in personal growth and community well-being. I enjoy exploring new ways to promote mental health and resilience, both personally and within the community. I find fulfillment in engaging in activities that enhance my understanding of human behavior and well-being, which in turn enriches my practice as a therapist.
