Hi! My name is Emily Klein. I am a mental health counselor licensed in Connecticut and New York with over 13 years of experience working as a mental health therapist and teacher. I have a MA in mental health counseling and an MA in special education. I work with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting conflicts, career challenges, grief/loss, social behavior and disabilities. I also help many people who have experienced physical trauma, emotional abuse and PTSD.
My counseling style is empathic, compassionate, warm and interactive. My approach combines cognitive-behavior, person-centered and, psychodynamic; always finding unique ways to match the therapeutic intervention to meet the individual needs of clients. The first few sessions I employ a person-centered therapy approach, making sure to establish a trusting rapport by using unconditional positive regard, empathy and listening to you tell your story. I have found that issues like depression, panic disorder and anxiety can be helped with cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness and meditation activities. My counseling style and approach to therapy is individualized to each client and what seems most fitting for their circumstance.
It takes courage to seek a more enjoyable and healthier life, and it can sometimes be hard to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support, encourage and empower you.
