About Michele Jakab

About my approach (style) to therapy…

I provide psychotherapy to adults and families with a commitment to helping clients improve their quality of life. My therapy style is client-centered, believing the relationship between the client and the therapist is of the most importance. I use an integrative approach, focusing on different therapy models depending on the client’s unique needs. I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, and strength-based, solution focused therapy.

About my background and training….

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. I have over 20 years of experience in social services and the mental health field. As an accomplished mental health professional, I have a broad base of counseling experience working with adults, older adults, and families of all backgrounds; specializing in grief and loss, stress, life transitions, adjustment, depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationships, caregiving, aging and end of life. Throughout my career, I have provided services to individuals and families using my experience from both my social work and clinical practice.

About my work (ideal clients)

I work with adults, providing individual and family therapy. Whether you are feeling lost or vulnerable, experiencing a difficult life transition, or just looking for a change, I aim to create a comfortable and safe space for all clients, focusing on the therapeutic relationship to help you enhance your well-being and restore your basic or complex needs.

A Little About Me…

Born and raised in Southern California, I am now proud to call myself a New Englander after living in Connecticut for 19 years. I am a proud mom of a Girl Scout and an Airman in the United States Air Force. I love anything outdoors; gardening, hiking with the family dog, and being near water. Most of all I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
